Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush in Tangerine No. 06

The Burberry makeup line has been around for a year or so now, and it takes up such a large counter space opposite M.A.C's at the entrance of Tangs Orchard, that I suppose by now, most of you would have seen or heard of its existence.

I got a couple of Burberry makeup about two months ago when the beauty community was crazy over their eyeshadows. And I am now ready to review one of them - the blush.

Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush

Available: Tangs Orchard, about $60.

Volume: 7 g.

Star Properties: Matte, soft, light glow, has Burberry logo imprints, and Made In Italy.

I thought the best way to show you something new would be to have photos from all angles, so that you see what I see. So it's going to be photo-heavy here.

Packaging
Like many higher-end cosmetics, Burberry makeup comes in cardboard box that carries their brand image.

So this is the back of the box, and the front is in that photo up top.

I think the box stands out from other brands like Guerlain or Chanel, because Burberry's one textured. It's like you can feel that thread woven texture when you hold it, whereas the other brands simply have black boxes that looks like glossy plastic.

The beige colour is also part of the whole Burberry image. It's the background colour of all their checkered leather bags.

Those are the ingredients printed underneath.

It says, "talc, corn starch, dimethicone, zinc stearate, etc". There's no mica, so that's good for those who may be allergic, or just don't like powdery blushes.

And there is the barcode and it says this will last 36 months after opening.

Then of course, the top that spells the name of the blush clearly. Mine is Tangerine Blush No. 06.

More of the packaging.

Here, you see the velvet pouch that has the awesome Burberry check and the metal box also with the check.

As the actual blush compact is perfectly square and ultra sleek, I can't really tell which way is front. So I find that Burberry word very useful because I always turn that word facing me before opening.

It is a magnetic snap-shut compact, so everything appears seamless.

That's the underside of the compact. I like that all the details are so clear, full name of the blush, and mass printed. I don't like brands that refuse to print the mass on the product itself.

And when you open the magnetic compact, that's what you see.

I am liking the whole magnet idea because that means I don't see any ugly holes around the rim of the inside.

Texture
Now for the blush itself, I guarantee you, Burberry has the most soft and silky, yet kind of creamy feel, ever.

It is a dream to touch. A dream to swipe your fingers across the blush.

It's as though you just touched those check prints on their leather bag! How luxurious.

Colour Swatch
As the name suggests, Tangerine looks orange upon blending (right). On the left, when I haven't blended it, it looks more peachy pink, but that's not how you normally wear a blush (too thick).

Pigmentation
The pigmentation of the Burberry blush is definitely wonderful! It doesn't gives me a problem no matter what brush I use. It just gets picked up and transferred very truly onto the cheeks. I hate to be cliche, but, what you see is what you get!

In the photo above, about 3 swipes gets me the colour on my cheeks. From front, it does look a lot more peachy pink than from side view.

Finish
On my cheeks, the finish is very matte, very silky, very well dispersed.

It's like, the colour shows obviously, but it doesn't applies as a patch of colour, but it applies very well-spread. There is no line to this blush. No end, no start, it just looks like the whole blush comes from within my skin.

I hardly need to blend this. I no longer pick up my EcoTools Kabuki brush like you see me do in my Youtube videos, because this Burberry just doesn't needs to be blended.

I still go over the edges with my blush brush, just because I have this habit of smudging out the edges. haha.

Due to the lighting around my mirror, you will see the warmer look on my right cheek below, so it appears slightly coral.

And for my left cheek, because of the different lighting, the blush appears cooler, though still tangerine.

Cost
The price of this is about $60, which is actually a bit higher than standard counter brands like Chanel and Dior. (Sometimes, there are those limited edition ones, like Blush Horizon de Chanel, that is $100, but that's because it's limited edition.)

While I do think Burberry is costly, and not a must, because its 6 blushes are all permanent (no rush to get any of them), I do find the blush incredible to use, and absolutely worth the price.

Don't forget that this comes with 7g of product, while a standard Chanel Baked Blush or M.A.C Baked Blush is something like 3.5g to 4g. And let's not forget Le Metier de Beaute Radiance Powder Rouge is 3.8g and already SGD50 (depending on exchange rate).

I think if we even out the quality of Burberry over its price, it is very, very well-priced!

Unless of course, you have many blushes, and you don't like sticking to one until it hits pan, and you really prefer that brands offer smaller pan sizes for lower prices so you can try more... ... But if you're in for a staple, workplace daily, matte blush, then absolutely check out the 6 shades that Burberry offers!

If you have warm skintone, and like natural blushes, and want to try an orange blush but don't want to go over the top orange, then consider Tangerine. =)

A Point To Make
Now, remember my blush comparisons with M.A.C Warm Soul? And I said that Warm Soul has those fine shimmers that act as a sort of highlighter or radiance glow booster on the cheeks? I'd have to tell you that I very personally still prefer non-matte blushes, by virtue that they just make me look more awake and alive.

It's not Burberry. It's purely my preference for blushes. But I feel that I need to be honest and say I don't use this everyday everyday even though I love it, and I totally recommend it to you.

For everyday radiance and glow, I still prefer my Laura Geller Vanilla Peach Cobbler because it has that extra dimension (being a 3-in-1 blush) and that ultra fine shimmer.

haha, it'd be quite ridiculous if I post 4 blush post in such a short period of time and tell you every one of them is my Holy Grail, yeah?

I recommend it! 5/5.
A perfect investment blush. Matte, as much as 7g of product. Natural, work-friendly, everyday unique orange colour. I will repurchase, as in, I want to get another Burberry blush in pink or rose.

Precisely because it is matte and costs $60, you need to consider carefully if you're like me, and prefer fine shimmers, or you really can live with matte blushes daily. Or else, you may find that this ends up sitting at the back of the drawer.
